Today, we had discussions and we linked it to the movie 'The Internship." We were discussing as to why we were all in the SLC and how being in the SLC has changed our lives. Honestly speaking, most of us probably has no change even after being in the SLC. Come to think of it, if being in the SLC hasn't done much to us, why are we even in the SLC? We related it back to the movie and watched a scene where the two interns were being interviewed at a library. The one that really touched the most was that when you are stuck in a blender, it is not about getting out that matters, it is about what happens after. Same thing as "so what?" If us being in the SLC is effective, then what happens after should be the main picture. If we think just being in the SLC will help us after, we are wrong, being in the SLC is nothing if it hasn't changed us or we haven't created any change.
The other thing that we watched from the movie was the scene where the interns group were able to connect with people and help people connect with people, and they eventually got the job because of what they were able to do. It is about "reaching out to people." Which is what the SLC should be doing. Reaching out to people and doing the best we can do in order to succeed in doing so. So I think it was brilliant that we linked our discussion and our life experiences to a very inspiring movie. We are nothing if we are not able to make a difference. Most importantly, it is not about how you got in the blender, what you did in the blender or how you got out of it, what matters is what happens after that.
